Antarctica…

Antarctica has always felt like the ultimate adventure. It’s one of those places that sits firmly on the bucket list, and we were unbelievably lucky enough to experience it for ourselves.

From being able to go to Elephant Island, to watching whales surface beside us, to braving the freezing Antarctic waters in a polar plunge, this trip was incredible.

 Visiting Elephant Island

One of the most amazing moments of our Antarctica trip was visiting Elephant Island. This is where Shackleton’s 22 men were stranded for four and a half months after the loss of the Endurance in 1916. It was impossible not to imagine what they endured, the isolation, the harsh conditions, and the uncertainty of rescue.

Penguins, Whales & Unforgettable Encounters

Every day felt like stepping into a documentary. We were lucky enough to see whales surfacing around us, often without warning, which was just magical.

The penguins were just as unforgettable. We saw both Emperor Penguins and Chinstrap Penguins. Watching them waddle, interact, and go about their day was endlessly entertaining.

Being able to walk among this wildlife (at a respectful distance) in such a pristine environment is something that’s incredibly rare and something we feel very lucky to have experienced.

The Antarctic Polar Plunge

We decided to be brave (or slightly mad!) and take on the Antarctic polar plunge.

Jumping into the freezing Southern Ocean is exactly as intense as you’d imagine. It was freezing, chaotic, and over in seconds… but also completely incredible.

Looking back, we’re so glad we did it. It’s one of those once in a lifetime experiences that you just have to say yes to.

Antarctica was the Trip of a Lifetime

It’s hard to put into words just how special Antarctica is.

We feel incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to experience it,  from going to Elephant Island, to encountering amazing wildlife, to pushing ourselves out of our comfort zone with the polar plunge.

It’s a trip we’ll never forget, and one that will stay with us for the rest of our lives.
